Black Light Party Theme

A black light party is one of the coolest college party themes. While it may be slightly more work for the host to put together a truly awesome black light party, it is one of the absolute easiest parties to prepare for as a guest (Tip: Wear anything white). This means that more people will be willing to show up. All you have to do now is make sure to throw a cool party.

Lighting

Most important part of throwing a black light party is ensuring that you have enough UV lighting. At the very least you should replace all your regular lights with UV light bulbs. You should also consider adding additional black lights to make sure you really fill the room and trigger the phosphors from every angle.

Safety

The darker your house is, the better the black light party will be. The problem is that a lot of things (like steps) will be really hard to see! Line all furniture edges, and especially steps, with glow-in-the-dark tape. You can also use the tape to create signs on the wall that direct guests to bathrooms, or to the keg.

Drinks

Serve drinks with tonic water, which contains the phosphorescent compound quinine. You can also make icecubes with half tonic and half regular water to add to the effect.

Party Accessories

Provide glow sticks and body or finger paint that guests can use to decorate themselves. Party and novelty stores also offer a wide selection of glow-in-the-dark party supplies.
